10/20/09 11:35 AM Hi, I have quick question regarding the RSS feed. Is it possible to have RSS feed for comments. Is there any plugins available for this? Do you think, is this possible? Thanks in advance rita |

10/22/09 12:45 AM Hi rita, There is currently no way to have RSS for comments, although it is something I want to add. But first I need to rework the feeds. As a work-around, I created this for you: http://www.mangoblog.org/downloads/comments.cfm.txt You should download the file, rename it to comments.cfm and place in your feeds folder. Then in your posts, you can add the RSS link in the header (next to the normal RSS) with address like this: <mango:Blog url />feeds/comments.cfm/<mango:PostProperty name /> You'll also need this updated file: http://mangoblog.googlecode.com/svn-history/r443/trunk/src/coldfusion/application/tags/mango/PostProperty.cfm Please note that this is not officially supported ;) Hope that helps. |

12/16/09 10:32 AM Laura, Great Post. I added a new attribute to the PostProperty.cfm file you posted here for 'comments link'. I've put it all together in a neat zip package with some very minor Documentation on how to implement it. It's available here: http://alteredpixels.net/download.cfm?id=9893ABD7-3048-94E3-E939D303C25A2072 Again, I liked this alot. Hope that helps, and hope you don't mind... 12/16/09 10:53 AM I'm of the strong opinion that this should be included in the next update of the Mango Blog Core. This is a great feature and I think it's very very useful. "...may you bow your head, as others look up to you..."

12/16/09 11:42 AM Hi all, I know that this is an important feature, but before it can make it to the core, it will need other things too, such as an entry in the configuration file, getters and setters in the blog class, corresponding events, etc so that it can work with URL rewriting. Also, I am looking into changing the RSS implementation so that it will play better with mappings (they use tags now and those are dependent on the location of the tags) and dispatch events so that you could, for example, add ads to the rss feed and other things. That is the main reason why I said it was not supported in the original reply. |

12/16/09 11:53 AM Hi James, Oh, not at all. I'm always happy to see community additions and I want to thank you for your contributions. I just wanted to give you the reason why I won't add it to the core as is. |
